It is important to follow the specific aftercare instructions provided to ensure the health of your hair and extensions.
Maintenance is recommended every 6-8 weeks. Be sure to rebook your next appointment within that time frame.
The life expectancy of hair extensions is 6-9 months. However, that is based on at-home care.
- Use only recommended shampoo, conditioner, leave-in detangler, oil, and heat protectant.
- Brush your hair in the morning, at night, and before you shower. Separate the rows, hold the base of the weft, and gently start at the ends.
- When washing your hair, use two fingers to gently shampoo between rows, condition mid-ends, then rinse thoroughly. Gently dry with a microfiber hair towel to reduce dry time. Shower filters are recommended.
- Apply leave-in conditioner and oil to damp hair, focusing on the mids and ends. Apply the oil morning and night to ensure your wefts stay moisturized.
- When styling, let your hair air dry to 50%, then rough dry to 80% before using a round brush.
- Use hot tools on a low heat setting.
- When sleeping, wear your hair in a low ponytail or two low braids with no tension. Silk pillowcases are recommended.
- Don’t remove extensions yourself; this can cause damage.
- Don’t go to bed with 100% wet hair. Always dry the base of the extensions to prevent matting.
- Don’t pull your hair back in a way that causes excess tension. Either wear it in a really low ponytail or a really high ponytail with your wefts flipped up.
- Don’t overuse dry shampoo. It can dry out your extensions if you apply too much to the ends.
- Don’t use SPF with Avobenzone or Octocrylene. They can cause a chemical reaction in the sun and turn your extensions pink/mauve. USE MINERAL SUNSCREEN ONLY.
- BLONDES: Don’t overuse purple shampoo. Your extensions will absorb the shampoo more than your hair and alter the color. Section your hair from your extensions and apply it to your hair only if needed.
- Don’t get your extensions in chlorine. If you're going into a pool, wet your hair with regular water first, apply leave-in conditioner, and then put it up.
